VTT to SRT converter
WebVTT files downloaded from streaming players and captioning services often need to be .srt before a desktop player, an NLE or a translation tool will take them. This converter strips the WEBVTT header, drops cue settings and NOTE blocks, renumbers the entries from 1 and writes standard SubRip timecodes.

Questions about VTT and SRT
What is removed when converting VTT to SRT?+
The WEBVTT header, NOTE and STYLE blocks, and per-cue settings such as align:middle or position:50%. SubRip has no equivalent for them. Text, line breaks and timings are kept.
Are the cues renumbered?+
Yes. WebVTT cue identifiers are optional and often missing or non-numeric, so the converter numbers the entries sequentially from 1, which is what SubRip expects.
Does the timing shift?+
No. Every start and end time is preserved to the millisecond; only the decimal separator changes from a dot to a comma.
Is the file sent to a server?+
No. Everything happens locally in your browser.
Need to translate the subtitles too?
Converting a format keeps the same language. To translate subtitles into another language while the timing stays exactly where it is, the Mac app does it in batch across 100+ languages, with an editor and validation before export.
